Angakkoq—Shaman

From April 15 we are showing the special exhibition Angakkoq—Shaman in Building B-25 ‘the Old Shop’. This exhibition explores the pre-Christian shamanic tradition of Inuit societies and the relation of its worldview to the living conditions of Greenland. Nine banners display text and images, including works of Greenlandic artists Aron from Kangeq, Aka Høegh and Kârale Andreassen as well as photographs by William Thalbitzer og T.H. Krabbe. The exhibition will stay throughout the summer and complements our permanent exhibition on cultural and religious contact between Christianity and Inuit religion on display in the Blue Church.

Angakkoq—Shaman is created by and kindly on loan from Nanortalik and Maniitsoq Museum.
