You can visit our collections in Sisimiut and Kangerlussuaq. Sisimiut Museum displays a significant collection of archaeological artefacts related to the first inhabitants of the area – the so-called Saqqaq people. In addition, the museum houses a large collection of boats from Sisimiut’s shipyard and a reconstruction of an umiaq, a traditional Greenlandic skin-covered boat. Most recently Sisimiut Museums has acquired a collection of dog sledges showing differences and similarities in dog sledging culture across the Arctic region.

Kangerlussuaq Museum includes a number of original interiors from the Cold War period alongside model aeroplanes and research equipment, all telling the story of the area as American air base and research station.

Part of the museum collection is available to view online on Katersat.
