Research

From its eafliest beginnings Kangerlussuaq has been a centre of research in the form of ice core drillings and atmospheric measurements. The exhibition shows the establishment of automatic weather stations by the Danish Meteorological Institute along the Greenlandic coastline, as well as a presentation of the life-saving station provided with rocket appliances on the Sandflats east of the airport. The exhibition also includes displays on research, emergency landing and salvage operations on the Ice cap.
