The Halfway House 1844

The Halfway House (B-44) is a timber-framed building clad in wooden boards, erected as a warehouse in 1844. It was used to store all the goods needed in the Holsteinborg colony during the long winters where the settlement could not be reached by supply ships. The name refers to the building’s location halfway between the harbour and the colony. Today it houses parts of the museum’s boat collection.
